Empire gown with lace bodice

Lucy’s was a summer wedding and she wanted a soft elegant style with some bias cut and lace involved.

I developed a silk satin crepe dress, in a sophisticated sculptured style with a lace fitted bodice. The bodice had a sloping empire line, made in a heavy lace and was very fitted with satin buttons following the curve of her spine.

The neckline and sleeves were edged with ‘leaf fronds’ from the lace to create soft edges. Heavy weight silk satin crepe was used for the bias-cut skirt, creating a semi-fitted, draping effect with a flare at the hem.

The back of the dress had a long train with a silk chiffon overlay to further soften the silhouette.
